And every morning, before the flag-raising ceremony, the little ones in the “Pre-Primary 2” class learn to take care of it. This valuable experience not only teaches them about nutrition and sustainable agriculture, but also instils a love for the earth and the joy of seeing their efforts grow. As Pope Francis reminds us in Laudato Si’, education in environmental responsibility begins with small daily gestures, and it is precisely this message that is put into practice with love and patience by the children and their teachers. The St Dominic Savio nursery school in Riimenze is home to more than 300 children, offering them a well-rounded education and a welcoming environment in which to learn, play and socialize under the guidance of qualified teachers. Their days include lessons, recreational activities, physical exercise and creative experiences, as well as a hot meal prepared daily using local produce from the school’s own crops and the Solidarity Agriculture Project farm. |
