It is with deep sorrow and shock that we learn of the tragic passing of Peter Mbia, Director General of the Ministry of General Education and Instruction in Western Equatoria State and member of the Solidarity Teacher Training College Board, who was killed last Saturday at his home in South Sudan.
Peter was a key figure in promoting education in the country for many years, working tirelessly for the future of South Sudan’s younger generations.
At this difficult time, we extend our heartfelt sympathy and respect to his family, colleagues and all those who had the privilege of working with him.
We do not know the exact circumstances of what happened and, out of respect for the complexity of the situation, we prefer not to speculate or take positions that could be inappropriate.
May his commitment to education and peace continue to inspire our daily work.
