Blessing of the new STTC teacher training centre in Wau

A moment of great joy and hope was experienced on 29 August 2025 in Wau, where the new Solidarity Teacher Training College (STTC) campus for the Inservice course for local teachers was officially inaugurated with a blessing ceremony presided over by Monsignor Matthew Remijio, Bishop of Wau.

The event was attended by students, members of the local community, the State Minister of Education, representatives of the Catholic and State Universities, and the Executive Director of Solidarity with South Sudan, Father Hyacinthe Loua SJ. In his speech, Father Hyacinthe expressed his deep gratitude and reiterated the vision of the project: to train the minds and hearts of future educators, preparing them to contribute significantly to their families, communities and the entire nation.

The celebration was also an opportunity to thank those who made this achievement possible, from Father Jim Greene (M.Afr), the predecessor, to Sister Dolores Alphonso (FMA), the driving force behind the project, to Bishop Matthew Remijio for his unwavering support. Special thanks were given to all the teachers and staff for their tireless dedication.

The blessing of the new campus is more than a ceremony: it is the beginning of a new chapter, a moral and civic commitment to educate a generation of responsible citizens prepared to build a better future for South Sudan.
