The Saint Dominic Savio nursery school in Riimenze, which welcomes over 300 children from local communities, is experiencing a wonderful period of growth thanks to an ever-closer collaboration with families. Parents are now an active and proactive part of their children’s educational journey, taking a personal stake in ensuring they have exercise books, pencils and that school fees are paid. This atmosphere of mutual trust is also fostered by the regular home visits made by teachers, which provide a valuable opportunity for dialogue that is greatly appreciated by the community.Meanwhile, the school continues to improve its services: the regular meal programme keeps the children healthy and full of energy, whilst new facilities, such as the kitchen and the ‘TORI’ hall, ensure that mealtimes are peaceful and sheltered from the sun and rain. With educational vegetable gardens, songs and new classrooms under construction, Saint Dominic Savio is growing every day as a true collective endeavour, where staff and parents work together to give the children of South Sudan a brighter future. |
