As part of the In-service program in Wau (part of the Solidarity Teacher Training College – STTC), a training support course on Early Childhood Education has just been completed to acquire skills and tools that promote the healthy cognitive development of children from an early age. With the help of specialized teachers, 31 student-teachers from nine different schools learned how to create teaching aids and develop lessons tailored to the needs of young children. Recently, students on the Inservice course also completed a crucial period of school practice for the Early Childhood Development module: an immersive and intense experience that confronted them with the real challenges and problems of extremely large classes, but also gave them a powerful new impetus. Back in the classroom, they are now more aware, motivated and eager to continue their research and study to make a tangible difference in the lives of children in South Sudan. This training not only provides qualifications, but also shapes resilient and resourceful educators who are capable of nurturing the country’s youngest minds.
