World Day of Social Justice

Today, 20 February, we celebrate World Day of Social Justice. The theme for 2026, “Renewed Commitment to Social Development and Social Justice”, reminds us that true peace is not only the absence of war, but the presence of rights, dignity and equal opportunities for all.

In South Sudan, this challenge is more relevant than ever. Despite the enormous difficulties linked to recent conflicts and a severely strained economy, social justice remains the compass for building a stable future. It means ensuring that every child can go to school, that every family has access to medical care, and that the voices of the most vulnerable are not silenced by hunger or instability.

In this context, missions play a crucial role: they are outposts of hope that work daily to break down the barriers of exclusion, transforming the logic of confrontation into that of encounter. Through their constant presence alongside communities, missions become the engine of progress that belongs to everyone, without exception.

Today, let us pray and reflect: how can we, in our own lives, be builders of a more equal world?
