Small strategies, big results: harvest management in the Community of Riimenze

At the demonstration farms of the Sustainable Agriculture Project in Riimenze, proper post-harvest management is essential for preserving the quality and quantity of agricultural produce, both at household and community level. Among the well-established and effective strategies for avoiding unnecessary waste is the use of raised drying structures. This traditional yet essential method protects cereals and produce from contamination by soil and foreign matter, whilst ensuring optimal ventilation: the rapid evaporation of moisture speeds up the drying process and effectively prevents the formation of mould and discolouration.
