The bishop of Bentiu, upon hearing the news of the Pope’s death, recalled how he had indicated a path towards a renewed and reconciled Church, promised by Jesus.
The papal representative in the African country, Horgan, who in recent days visited the diocese of Malakal, on the border with Sudan, spoke of the Christmas celebrations, “whose message is strong, even in the midst of so many difficulties. The people are living through heart-wrenching dramas, but they also witness great examples of faith and perseverance, of trust despite the tragedy”.
On the occasion of the 8th World Day of the Poor, yesterday Pope Francis celebrated a special Mass.
