In a powerful message of faith, Bishop Carlassare reflects on the mission in South Sudan as a “stubborn seed of hope and fraternity”.
“Independence is not a destination. It is a journey. A journey we must walk together—with hope, with patience, and with determination”.
Ahead of the 2026 elections, the Comboni bishop of Bentiu urges South Sudan to resolve conflicts through peace education for the younger generations, a fundamental task for the Church and schools.
The bishop of Bentiu, upon hearing the news of the Pope’s death, recalled how he had indicated a path towards a renewed and reconciled Church, promised by Jesus.
Bishop Carlassare has called for daily prayers for peace in South Sudan.
“It is a long process. The process must lead to the formation of a national consciousness and the building of the nation on the basis of the common good of all citizens.”
Bishop Christian Carlassare, in his December 8 pastoral message, emphasized the theme of “Pilgrims of Hope” for the 2025 Jubilee Year.
Appointed by Francis as bishop of the diocese created earlier this month over part of Malakal territory, the prelate thanks the pope for the opportunity to give greater pastoral attention to the many faithful in these areas.
