This is not a peace devised at a desk or ratified by signatures on official documents, but a necessity that springs spontaneously from people’s hearts, capable of making its way through the cracks of a wounded society just like the most tenacious grass among the rocks. Linking this journey to the mystery of Easter, Bishop Carlassare reminds us that the Resurrection does not erase the signs of suffering, but transforms them into spaces of light and reconciliation. Celebrating Easter in South Sudan therefore means placing our trust in this ‘wild’ and everyday peace, made up of courageous choices and small gestures which, day after day, stake everything on life and forgiveness rather than revenge.
