A workshop aimed at providing psychosocial and spiritual support to Sudanese returnees was held in Juba from 11 to 13 October 2024. It focused on enabling participants to share their experiences and adapt to their new environment in South Sudan. Community organisations and local leaders helped to identify those who would benefit most. The programme centred on three key areas: psychosocial support, spiritual guidance and physical well-being. Participants engaged in therapeutic exercises to deal with trauma and learnt techniques to relieve physical tension. The sessions were led by experienced facilitators, including Fr Christy, Fr Peter Bazilio and Fr Emmanuel. The workshop used a participatory approach, encouraging open dialogue and personal narrative. Activities included silent prayer, group sharing and cultural exchanges, fostering a sense of community among participants. Facilitators noted a need for further workshops in the future to address deeper emotional issues. In conclusion, the workshop succeeded in providing essential support to the returnees, who left with renewed hope and new tools to cope with the difficult situation.
