In Riimenze, Saint Dominic Nursery School teaches sustainability and respect for the environment from an early age

At the Saint Dominic Nursery School in Riimenze, education on respect for the environment and sustainable management of local resources is an integral part of the children’s learning programme. The start of the second semester was celebrated in a special way, with the children taking part in planting new trees.

The young students planted small plants, learning from the outset the value of nature and the importance of caring for their local area, in full harmony with the principles of Laudato Si’, which calls for “integral ecology” and care for our Common Home.

In the photo on the side, some girls help prepare cassava leaves harvested directly from the school garden for lunch. School meals are enriched with fresh and nutritious produce grown in the school’s own garden. This is not only a way to ensure healthy eating, but also has a profound educational value. It teaches children the importance of sustainability, responsible management of natural resources and respect for the environment.
