Women’s empowerment is a central theme in Solidarity’s pastoral programme, recognizing their crucial role as agents of peace and pillars of the community. In November 2025, in Bor, Jonglei State, Solidarity facilitated two intensive women’s empowerment programmes on the theme ‘Healing the Heart: A Path to Peace.’ With the support of the Sisters of Mercy – Americas, 69 women participated in sessions led by Sr. Guille Vasquez Rubi, ACJ, and Sr. Ruth Karina, SSND. The five-day journey focused on trauma healing and emotional resilience. Through sharing stories and symbolic rituals, participants addressed the wounds of conflict and loss. Moments such as the ‘March of Honour’ celebrated women’s strength and identity. The training concluded with the creation of support networks and the development of plans to continue healing and promote peace in their families and communities.
