Dear friends, Many greetings to all of you from Solidarity with South Sudan, together with best wishes for a Holy Christmas and a blessed New Year 2026. This year, as the Church celebrates the Jubilee 2025, we were reminded that to be “Pilgrims of Hope” is to walk together, with faith, compassion, and mercy, believing that even the smallest gestures of love can illuminate the darkest moments. In this spirit, we thank you for journeying with us, for being true companions in our shared mission of service to the people of South Sudan. As you know, the nation continues to endure profound hardship. 7.1 million people are in need of essential health services, and the maternal mortality rate remains the highest in the world—1,223 deaths per 100,000 live births. At the same time, 7.7 million people, including 2.3 million children under five and 1.2 million pregnant and lactating women, are suffering from severe food insecurity at crisis levels or worse. Yet, in the midst of so much pain, we continue to see signs of grace and resilience.
