| The St Dominic Savio Nursery School in Riimenze, as part of Solidarity’s community development project, welcomes more than 250 children, who have the opportunity to learn and experience new things every day.
The headmistress and school staff took the initiative to organise a farm to enable the children to have a better diet. Everyone was involved and some people were hired to help cultivate the land. They planted different seeds in the soil, took care of the weeds and now everyone is happy to harvest maize, peanuts and beans. It is amazing how great results can be achieved when people focus on the common good. It is also a great motivation and encouragement for the teachers to have good support from the local community. The children have their social gatherings while breaking peanuts to roast them. There are further plans for the future. Once the first crop is harvested, sorghum will be planted on the same land. In fact, changing crops helps to preserve the fertility of the soil. We thank God for the blessing of a good harvest and congratulate the Riimenze Nursery School for its great achievement in agriculture.
