This campaign aims to fund an entire cycle of studies for a midwife at the Solidarity Health Training Institute in Wau, South Sudan. By supporting the education of a new midwife, you are not only ensuring professional and safe care for new mothers and babies but also helping to rebuild a shattered healthcare system in a country that desperately needs qualified professionals.
The Republic of South Sudan, with its capital in Juba, is the world’s youngest nation, having gained independence from Sudan in 2011. The situation in South Sudan is dire; it has the highest maternal mortality rate globally, with 1,150 deaths per 100,000 live births, and an infant mortality rate of 64.8 deaths per 1,000 live births. Years of conflict and instability have left the government’s ability to provide basic services severely compromised, and the healthcare system is in critical condition.
The Solidarity Health Training Institute is committed to changing this by offering the first program in South Sudan to certify nurses and midwives. Since its inception, the institute has graduated 393 healthcare professionals, 92% of whom are currently working in the national health system. However, many healthcare facilities remain poorly equipped and understaffed, operating far below capacity.
Join us in making a real difference—support a midwife’s education today and help save countless lives tomorrow. Your contribution is more than charity; it’s a lifeline for a nation in need.
