South Sudan: a call for solidarity from the voice of the Bishop of Yei

 

At the last Annual General Assembly of Solidarity with South Sudan, held in Rome on 28 November 2024, we had the honour of hosting the Rev. Alex Lodiong Sakor EYOBO, Bishop of the Diocese of Yei. In his powerful speech, the bishop painted a daunting picture of the terrible humanitarian crisis in South Sudan. He emphasises the economic collapse, political instability and ongoing armed conflicts that continue to plague the nation. In the midst of this turmoil, the Church remains a beacon of hope, providing essential services and working for reconciliation. The Bishop emphasised the crucial role of Solidarity with South Sudan in supporting the mission of the Church and called for a renewed commitment to this vital partnership.
