Youth call for peace and unity in South Sudan against the danger of a new conflict

 

Against the backdrop of rising tensions and violence in South Sudan, members of the Youth Desk of the South Sudan Council of Churches (SSCC) have issued a call for unity, calm and peaceful coexistence. Concerned about the deteriorating situation, they pledge to be part of the solution, recognising the efforts of church leaders to promote dialogue. Young people urge their peers to refrain from spreading disinformation and hate speech, favouring non-violent means to express their concerns. They ask national leaders to prioritise dialogue and to be examples of mercy for future generations, upholding the spirit of patriotism and collaboration for the common good. Reaffirming their commitment to peace, young Christians choose to be peacemakers.
