Strengthening Community Spirit in Malakal

From December 9th to 11th, 2025, the Kodak Pastoral Region in the Diocese of Malakal hosted a transformative Small Christian Communities (SCC) Formation Programme that brought together 57 participants from three different parishes. Facilitated by Father Emmanuel, M.Afr., the sessions focused on SCC spirituality and the practical “7 Steps Bible Sharing” method, helping those present to see the Church as a living presence within their own daily lives. The experience was deeply moving for many who were learning these methods for the first time, with one participant sharing that the process helped them “listen to the Word of God with a new heart and to listen to others with respect”, while another noted that it helped them realize that “the Church is not only in the parish center, but also in our homes and neighborhoods.” This initiative, made possible through the constant support of Friends in Solidarity, concluded with a renewed sense of missionary zeal as the participants returned home determined to foster unity and mutual care within their local communities.
