| We are pleased to share the official communiqué issued by the Catholic Bishops of South Sudan following their annual meeting, held from 15 to 17 July 2026 at the Catholic Relief Services (CRS) headquarters in Juba, in which they renew their call for peace, reconciliation and healing for the country.
Their message comes at a crucial time, as South Sudan continues to face political uncertainty, localized violence, displacement, trauma and deep social wounds caused by years of conflict. For Solidarity with South Sudan, this call is at the heart of our mission. Through education, healthcare training, pastoral formation, trauma healing, sustainable agriculture and community resilience, Solidarity works to build local capacity and accompany communities on the path towards peace, dignity and self-reliance. Peace is not built only through agreements. It is also built every day through trained teachers who educate children, nurses and midwives who care for families, pastoral agents who accompany wounded communities, and farmers who strengthen food security and resilience. As the Church renews its appeal for peace and healing, Solidarity remains committed to walking alongside the people of South Sudan, helping to form leaders and institutions that can serve the country with hope, compassion and courage.
