To mark World Food Day, Solidarity with South Sudan is renewing its commitment to supporting local communities through the Sustainable Agriculture Project in Riimenze (SAP-R).
In Riimenze, training is the main driver of change. Through practical courses in horticulture and livestock farming, and the provision of seeds, tools and pairs of animals, we support families in diversifying their production and securing their long-term livelihoods. This initiative thrives thanks to the constant presence on the ground of the invaluable SAP-R team and the Community Extension Workers: key figures selected within the various communities and given advanced training to guide their neighbours towards informed and sustainable land management. At the same time, we pay particular attention to the health of children. We process the most nutritious local crops to produce food supplements for children at risk of malnutrition, complementing their distribution with sessions to promote good nutritional practices within families. Cultivating the future means walking alongside people, transforming local knowledge into the driving force behind their own development. 👉 Find out more about the Sustainable Agriculture Project
