Church Calls for End to Violence in South Sudan as Tensions Rise

The Sudan and South Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Conference (SSS-CBC) has expressed alarm about escalating violence and a deteriorating political climate in South Sudan. They highlight clashes, political arrests, and the displacement of civilians, marking a reversal of peace. The SSS-CBC calls on leaders to honor peace agreements and resist a return to arms, recalling Pope Francis’s plea for peace. They warn against foreign military involvement and the catastrophic consequences of further violence. The Church leaders urge for forgiveness, dialogue, and stand ready to mediate, appealing to all for unity against war.
