| It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Father David Gentry-Akin on Sunday, August 18, 2024, a dedicated member of the Solidarity with South Sudan since 2021.
Father David served with great passion and dedication as the Mission Promoter for our Solidarity with South Sudan project for several years. His time spent in South Sudan, getting to know our various projects left a lasting and positive impact on the members of our communities and even on the beneficiaries of our initiatives. He is fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of working with him. From Rome, Father David worked tirelessly alongside his colleagues in the Rome office of Solidarity with South Sudan, to promote and raise awareness of our project among various religious congregations. His kindness, commitment, and unwavering support were truly characteristic of his life and work. We are grateful to God for the gift of Father David’s life, and we commend him to the tender care of the Virgin Mary. May he rest in peace, and may God bring comfort to all who mourn his loss. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Father Gentry-Akin’s family, his diocese, and his colleagues and friends. His legacy of dedication, compassion, and intellectual excellence will continue to inspire us all.
