Happy World Teachers’ Day!

In South Sudan, being a teacher is an act of extraordinary resilience. Even today, the country faces a severe shortage of facilities, resources and teachers, who work under extremely difficult pay conditions, and many of whom have never received any formal training.

Yet, despite these daunting challenges, the passion for education and teaching remains alive in so many teachers, as it is the foundation upon which the future, peace and stability of a community and an entire country are built.

In this context, the Solidarity Teacher Training College (STTC) plays a crucial role.

Through a rigorous two-year programme, the STTC offers prospective primary school teachers a comprehensive academic education, complemented by practical experience in schools. In addition to subject-specific knowledge, our students learn child-centred teaching methods, classroom management and community engagement, thereby becoming pillars of strength and progress for South Sudan.

Today we pay tribute to all the teachers and students at STTC who, despite countless challenges, choose dedication over giving up in order to build a brighter tomorrow.
