After 15 years of commendable service in Riimenze, Sr Josephine Murugu, RNDM, is the latest to leave the group of pioneers who helped found Solidarity with South Sudan. Among her merits is that of having instituted and grown the St. Paul’s kindergarten in Riimenze, which has welcomed hundreds of boys and girls from the neighbourhood. She has also looked after elderly displaced people living near Riimenze, listening to them and being close to them and, thanks to the support of Solidarity, providing them with food, tools and helping them to repair their huts.Ā Her ministry has been crucial in building the local community and for this we thank her and wish her all the best on her return to Kenya, her home country. Sr Josephine leaves the class of babies she was teaching in the kindergarten to Mrs Madeline, a graduate teacher at the STTC in Yambio. This is the first time an STTC graduate has been involved in teaching at our school. She arrived on 4 June and held an orientation at the school on the 5th, where she met and interacted with the other teachers and pupils. So far, she has done a wonderful job in the school, transforming the classrooms with beautiful teaching materials in addition to those already present. She gets along well with the other teachers and is generously sharing her expertise with them, which all have welcomed with open minds and hearts, to help the children grow and develop mentally, physically and spiritually for their well-being. It is with great pleasure that we welcome her to the Solidarity team!
