CHTI Cultural Week celebrates diversity and promotes peace in South Sudan

Every year in January, the Catholic Health Training Institute (CHTI) comes alive with Cultural Week, a much-awaited event for the entire student community. During this special week, CHTI students coming from all corners of South Sudan have the unique opportunity to share their cultural roots through a kaleidoscope of artistic expressions: traditional dances, songs, evocative theatre performances and ancestral rituals come to life on stage, offering a spectacle rich in colour and meaning. Cultural Week is much more than a simple celebration; it is a precious opportunity to ‘discover the other’, to recognise oneself in the similarities and to be enriched through the differences that make each culture unique. In a country scarred by divisions and conflicts, welcoming, respecting and appreciating cultural diversity is a fundamental step towards building a future of peace and unity that goes beyond territorial, linguistic and religious boundaries.

The CHTI students, who will soon become health workers, will not only contribute to improving the quality of the country’s health system, but also carry a message of tolerance, peace and acceptance. CHTI’s Cultural Week represents hope for a future for South Sudan in which cultural diversity is its strength, an opportunity for growth for the entire community.
