Success story from CHTI: Kon Kon, an accomplished nurse

Below are the words of Kon Kon, a graduate of the Catholic Health Training Institute (CHTI) in 2019 and now a nurse in the St. Daniel Comboni Hospital in Wau.

“I am Kon Kon, a nurse who graduated from the Catholic Health Training Institute (CHTI) in November 2019.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Solidarity with South Sudan for their support and assistance in helping me become a health professional.

Below are the main reasons why I would like to express my gratitude:

I learnt how to be a professional nurse. I am now able, with the help of God and teamwork, to save the lives of patients who come to me for medical care.

The knowledge and practice acquired during my training at CHTI have made me a confident nurse; I am able to perform many life-saving procedures in the Daniel Comboni Hospital, where I currently work as a theatre nurse.

At CHTI, I learnt about people from different tribes as we lived together and my life was enriched by getting to know other cultures. Learning to live in harmony with students from different ethnic groups and tribes was something surprising and new that I am happy about.

I learnt about the Word of God through the various spiritual practices and the mass held regularly at CHTI.

In conclusion, I would like to thank God and all those who contributed to my formation for making me who I am today. May God bless the Solidarity community to continue providing humanitarian services to the people of South Sudan. Thank you to all our benefactors.”
