Building Bridges of Hope at the 2025 UISG Assembly

From 5 to 9 May, Rome hosted the Plenary Assembly of the International Union of Superiors General (UISG), an event of significant importance for women’s religious life globally. In this context of encounter and reflection, Solidarity with South Sudan had the precious opportunity to be present with its own stand. It was an opportunity to meet and personally thank the many sisters and congregations who, with generosity and constancy, support the inter-congregational mission of Solidarity in South Sudan. But it was also an important opportunity to bring to the attention of a large international audience the complex and painful reality of South Sudan, a country that continues to struggle with the deep wounds left by years of war and conflict, aggravated by widespread poverty that undermines the dignity and future of its people. Thanks also to the support of some Solidarity board members, it was possible to share in a direct and passionate way the concrete actions that the organisation carries out and to promote increasingly active participation.
Solidarity with South Sudan sincerely thanks UISG for the warm welcome and for offering this important opportunity for meeting, dialogue and sharing intentions, testifying to the strength of collaboration and common commitment in responding to the needs of the least.
