| 8 February marks the day of St Josephine Bakhita, a saint of Sudanese origin, who is the patron saint of victims of human trafficking. She herself experienced slavery and suffering, but was also able to find the strength to forgive and bear witness to God’s love.
The feast of St Bakhita is an opportunity to reflect on her life and her message of hope: she teaches us that we must never lose faith in the possibility of positive change, even when the reality around us presents obstacles that seem insurmountable. Her story is a beacon of hope for South Sudan, a country still struggling for peace and justice. And it is also a source of inspiration for the work of Solidarity with South Sudan and the communities of the projects active in Yambio, Wau, Riimenze and Juba, which on this day celebrate the memory of Saint Bakhita with prayers and activities under the banner of communion, peace and solidarity. Stay tuned, find out all the news about Solidarity’s projects! |
