| My experience with Solidarity with South Sudan has been one of the highlights of my life. Before going to South Sudan, I knew little about the venture of Solidarity and no one from my religious institute had been with them in the country.
Working and living in inter-congregational communities has been a highly rewarding and challenging experience. Coupled with that was the participation in mixed communities of men and women from every continent. It was very enriching to listen to other ways of thinking and doing things and to find common ground in our commitment to mission. Often in our annual assemblies we returned to the theme of motivation and how the Spirit moved within each of us. These sharings were moments of special grace. The mission of Solidarity to form individuals and institutions in the areas of health, education, agriculture and pastoral, is a great need in a country as challenged as South Sudan, where 50% of the population is under the age of 18 years. It was a privilege to be able to touch so many people’s lives and to discover their resilience, energy and eagerness to improve themselves and their families. May the Good Lord continue to bless this initiative. Fr Jim Greene, M.Afr.
